Michaela McMillan: Beasts and Baubles

Create a joyful selection of festive decorations to adorn your home. There will be 3 main starting points - a hanging animal charm, a mini Perspex dome and a reimagined Christmas decoration. With an emphasis on imagination and the fact that anything goes, we will revamp vintage and found objects to blend together nostalgia, personality and unexpected combinations.
An array of materials will be provided from metal foils, retro cake toppers, textiles, beads and animal figurines. Techniques include threading, wrapping, drilling and embossing alongside investigating a range of adhesives. You can make completely individual mini artworks or a coordinated trio. These decorations may be cherished and brought out each year, or are so joyful that they can stay up all year round! All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring along small objects to personalise your decorations.

The workshop is 10 - 4pm

Full payment will be taken at time of booking (this is non refundable or transferable to a different workshop). However IF this workshops has to be cancelled you will of course receive a refund in full.

All materials and use of equipment are included, however it is recommended that you bring a few items to personalise the work (as listed above)

Please bring a packed lunch. However hot and cold drinks, biscuits and cake will be provided!

Under 16’s must be accompanied by a participating, paying adult.

Please be aware the workshop artists retain the intellectual property to their own ideas- you cannot go into business making, or running workshops showing copies of the artists work. You can however use the ideas for personal use and with your own students, if you are a teacher.
