Karen Suzuki: Stitch a Perfect Pet workshop

Image of Karen Suzuki: Stitch a Perfect Pet workshop

This will be a workshop stitching images of animals, based loosely on the idea of exploring chance happenings in stitch to create an unplanned, surprising result. You will be introduced to six different stitching techniques, with a number from a dice assigned to each technique. From this you will develop an image on a piece of work featuring these techniques, the order of technique to be used decided by rolling the dice. In this way you will be able to build up a richly textured surface that features all the techniques, with the element of chance playing a part in how the different layers end up working together. You should end up with an image of a perfect pet that may be quite different from the one you imagined. Please bring pictures of your own pet, or dream pet, as inspiration, and you may wish to bring along fabric scraps and threads to incorporate.

The workshop is 10 - 4pm
