Amanda Clayton: ‘Fragile Forms' 2 day workshop
We will be exploring the qualities of cloth and hand stitch in a neutral palette with particular emphasis on flat to form.
SPACE TENSION WEIGHT MOVEMENT SUSPENSION TRANSLUCENCY FRAGILITY TOUCH STRENGTH STRETCH
The above are just a few of the elements that we will challenge by being creative with bias, shaping, construction, right side/wrong side. This 2 day course is very much about experimenting and taking risks. You may not necessarily go away with resolved pieces but you will have lots of ideas to develop back in your studio. All materials and equipment are provided but do bring a variety of neutral threads, neutral cloth (2 or 3 pieces 40 x 40 cm) such as organdie, organza, crepeline, habotai, mousaline, tulle, velvet, linen, cotton + personal scraps in neutrals such as lace and sentimental fabric fragments. You will also need a piece of 80cm x 80cm cotton organdie or crepeline or silk organza (available from Whaleys online), but do bring cash (£15- £25) if you wish to buy direct from Amanda on the day. Amanda will also have smaller scraps of all fabrics available to buy on the day. You may also wish to bring a basic sewing kit.
The workshop is 10 - 4pm
