Ali Ferguson : Wonky Patchwork Portraits

£80.00
Sold out

A gorgeous day creating a wonky patchwork piece inspired by old log cabin quilts, stories & memories of special people. An old family (or other) photograph printed onto fabric will be placed at the heart of your piece (photographs will be printed in advance of the workshop- see below for details*)
Ali will show you how she builds round this heart with deliciously wonky patchwork and how the use of meaningful words adds to the story element. You’ll be working with a fabulous selection of vintage and used materials. Your patchwork portrait will be backed onto a gloriously scrappy piece of vintage quilt and the finished piece will be approximately A4 in size. You’ll be creating a beautifully personal ‘cloth story’ that can be hung straight onto a wall. These pieces are all hand stitched but don’t worry if you’re not experienced – Ali will share some of her favourite stitches and plenty of inspiration. You won’t finish your piece during the workshop – hand stitching is slow!, however, you will leave with a gorgeous project and all the ideas that you need to continue at home.
All materials are provided, including old & used fabrics and your vintage quilt background, however please bring along some of your own fabrics to help tell the story of your portrait- dress-weight cottons are ideal, old or new, bright & colourful, old & muted, shirting fabrics, scraps of lace or even paper ephemera (nothing too bulky). *You’ll receive more details about photos nearer to the date of the workshop so please ensure you provide the correct email address when booking*

The workshop is 10 - 4pm
